How we make it

  1. Cut the fresh pears.
  2. Open the red wine.
  3. Over ice, add the orange liqueur, pears and lemon, then the red wine.
  4. Top it with seltzer.

Pointers from the show

  • The seltzer makes it. The sparkle is what earned the scrump.
  • Top your own cup with seltzer so you get the fizz.
  • Farm-fresh fruit is best.
  • It's an easy one. The show is “all about easy.”

The story

About this recipe

Jaz made this one for Rocco, who hosts Rocco on the Rocks, a podcast styled as a happy hour where every drink gets the “scrump or dump” taste test. The pears came fresh from a farm in Clifton, New Jersey. Rocco admitted he can't open a bottle of wine, and Taylor called it Pura Vida: just figure it out. Verdict: scrump.
